Scholarship Awarded to 2020 Graduate


East Aurora, N.Y. - Iroquois High School graduate Abby Mertzlufft was awarded a $500 scholarship at the July 9th meeting of the Arts & Craftsmen Guild on the historic Roycroft Campus. Mertzlufft’s winning submittal featured work in both graphite and colored pencil. She will attend Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, NY this fall where she intends to pursue a degree in Art Education.

“Abby is already a talented young artist and the Guild is proud to support her further development and art education with this scholarship,” said Guild Chairperson, Yvonne Stoklosa. “She also receives a membership in the Guild which gives her a chance to attend our meetings, and network and learn from our accomplished artist-members, several of whom are art instructors as well.”

The Arts & Craftsmen Guild, a not-for-profit division of the Roycroft Campus, seeks to promote and preserve the home of the American Arts & Crafts Movement. Its mission is to inspire a positive collaboration amongst the craftsmen, the community and the Roycroft Campus. The Guild has grown to over 60 members, and almost 40 juried artists from around the USA and Canada, as well as non-juried artists, supporters and students. The Roycroft Campus Corporation (RCC) is a not for profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to the preservation and restoration of the Roycroft Campus, a National Historic Landmark in East Aurora, New York. From 1897 to 1938, the Roycroft Campus was one of the most successful and well-known centers of the Arts & Crafts Movement in the United States, consisting of a community of over 500 artisans and craftspeople led by writer and entrepreneur, Elbert Hubbard. The RCC’s mission is to inspire visitors to experience the creativity, ideals and future of the Arts & Crafts Movement and to further promote and preserve the Roycroft Campus.
